History

Alvin Manalo and Adrian Amores are the creative force behind Saint Augustine Academy. After meeting in the mid-1990’s at Macquarie University studying for an Economics degree, the two paired up in 2004 and formed this unique menswear label. Alvin, (with no formal fashion design education) has proven himselfto be a skilled and proficient designer with his last 7 seasons work with Saint Augustine Academy. Saint Augustine Academy has since expanded and sold the label Australia-wide, New Zealand, United States, Europe and Asia.

In 2008, Saint Augustine Academy opened its doors to the public with the launch of its flagship store in Sydney, Australia.

Philosophy

Alvin’s designs are always influenced by his music tastes and musicians ranging from Madness and The Kinks to Franz Ferdinand and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs have all played a part.

Signature features of Saint Augustine Academy’s collections are; limited colour palettes, skinny cut denim and suiting, and exclusive printed denim and tees.

The Saint Augustine Academy guy is the average joe who has a desire to look sharp and a keen sense of style.

International and local celebrities such as The Horrors, Wolfmother, Phil Jamieson (Grinspoon), Van She, The Lost Valentinos, The Red Riders, The Scare, Faker, Neal Carlson (Mink), The Hot Lies, Darren McMullen (MTV), Nathan Sapsford (Video Hits) and Danny Clayton (Channel V) are all fans of Saint Augustine Academy. Nick Cester (Jet) and Mötley Crüe’s Tommy Lee have bought Saint Augustine Academy from their local stockists.
